Solid Rock International

Welcome to the REVOLUTION!

In cooperation with Dominican nonprofit partner ACPSI (The Christian Association for the Promotion of Integral Health), a new building has been constructed for the Christian Clinic for Integral Health to help fulfill its original vision of serving the poorest of the poor while providing opportunities to expand available services to the southwestern region of the Dominican Republic. We believe the new facility will be a REVOLUTION for the community, but we cannot succeed without the prayers, participation, and financial giving from people like you. If you are not already involved, we pray that you will consider how you can be a part of this project.

The Need

The Christian Clinic for Integral Health in San Juan de la Maguana faced disastrous flooding from Hurricane George in 1998. The entire clinic was covered by over five feet of water that severely damaged the structure and property.

As a result, the old clinic:

  • Sits on a government declared flood plain with a high risk of future flooding
  • Has maintenance issues beyond repair including a leaky roof, mold growth, and a buckled floor
  • Did not comply with government standards and was at risk of being shut down at any time
  • Could not accept insurance due to its poor condition which drastically limited funding and made self-sustainment impossible
Access to reasonable medical testing services in the southern region of the Dominican Republic is a challenge in itself as many tests are only offered in the capital city of Santo Domingo. The average Dominican does not have the means to travel a great distance for healthcare.

For a Sanjuanero to visit the capital, such a trip might entail:

  • Purchase of a bus ticket
  • Travel for three to six hours one-way
  • Long wait time at the public hospital, sometimes for multiple days
  • Food and lodging costs
  • Sacrifice of salary while away from work

Bringing State of the Art Healthcare to the Poor

With the help of our Dominican non-profit partner ACPSI, volunteers from across North America and the Dominican Republic, the faithful giving of donors, and God’s blessing, we are striving to revolutionize healthcare in the Dominican Republic.

The new clinic facility includes:

  • 46,242 square feet
  • 56 beds
  • Projected increase in annual surgical procedures from 600 to 1,000
  • Projected increase in annual patient services provided from 38,000 to 98,000
  • Project increase in employees from 35 to 93

The clinic plans to offer new services at its new location, with some of them becoming available to the San Juan community for the very first time ever.

The new services include:

  • Ambulance Services
  • Blood Bank
  • Emergency Care
  • Emergency Obstetrics
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Intensive Care
  • Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthodontics
  • Orthopedics
  • Physical Therapy
  • Radiology
  • Urology

Current and Future Operations

SRI currently provides financial support for roughly 15% of the clinic’s operational needs as well as the additional services provided by SRI volunteer medical teams. The new building will allow for the clinic to continue operating as it currently does while also offering more services and the new ability to accept insurance (after Public Health approvals). As a result, this will ultimately decrease the amount of financial support needed from SRI and free up funding for other SRI ministries. As for management, SRI has oversight responsibilities via the Joint Executive Committee made up of SRI and ACPSI (The Christian Association for the Promotion of Integral Health) representation. However, the clinic operates and will continue to be managed independently from SRI.

Your Help is Still Needed

The clinic and SRI request that supporters please continue to stay informed and involved moving forward. The continuation of pledges to the project is extremely helpful at this time to help with costs of technology such as hardware and software, as well as other transitional needs. Please keep in mind that SRI will continue to apply 100% of all donated funds directly to the clinic project without the removal of administrative fees. Thank you for keeping this project covered in prayer!
